Terms of Service

Last updated 7 October 2026 · Version 2026-10-07

These terms are the agreement between you and RowCast for the use of the RowCast service at rowcast.co.za. Please read them, especially the sections in a shaded box: they limit our liability and set out your responsibilities. By creating an account you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are

RowCast is operated by:

Operator
Winand Cronje, a sole proprietor trading as RowCast
Email
hello@rowcast.co.za
Website
rowcast.co.za
Information Officer (POPIA)
Winand Cronje, hello@rowcast.co.za

2. The service

RowCast reads spreadsheets you upload (.xlsx, .xls or .csv), keeps the columns you choose, and turns them into charts, a dashboard, written reports and forecasts. Reports are written by artificial intelligence (AI) from figures that RowCast's own software calculates from your data.

You use RowCast on behalf of a business. You must be at least 18 years old and allowed to bind that business to these terms.

3. Your account

  • Give accurate details and keep your email address up to date. We use it for confirmations, security notices and receipts.
  • Keep your password safe and don't share your account. We strongly recommend two-step sign-in (Account & security).
  • You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away at the email address above if you think someone else has used it.
  • One account belongs to one business. Free report credits are for genuine first use; we may remove them if accounts are created to obtain them repeatedly.

4. Your data

  • You own your data. You give us permission to store and process it only to provide RowCast to you, as described in these terms and our Privacy Policy. We don't sell it, and we don't use it to market to anyone else.
  • You confirm that you're entitled to upload the data and that, where it contains personal information about other people (for example customers or staff), you have a lawful basis under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) to share it with us for this purpose. Please upload only what the analysis needs: leave columns such as ID numbers, phone numbers and personal email addresses on Don't use.
  • We never store the file you upload. It's read in memory and discarded; only the columns you choose are kept, encrypted.
  • You can delete any upload or report, or your whole account, at any time.

5. Operator agreement (POPIA sections 20 and 21)

For personal information in the data you upload, your business is the responsible party and RowCast is your operator. As your operator we:

  • process it only to provide RowCast to you, and only on your instructions as expressed through your use of the service;
  • treat it as confidential, and allow only people and systems that need it to provide the service to process it;
  • keep appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational security measures in place (section 19), including encryption at rest, isolation between businesses and encrypted connections, as described in our Privacy Policy;
  • use these sub-operators: xneelo (hosting and email, South Africa) and Anthropic PBC (AI processing of summaries, United States), and tell you before we add others;
  • notify you without undue delay if we have reasonable grounds to believe your information has been accessed or acquired by an unauthorised person (section 22);
  • help you respond to requests from people whose information you hold, where we reasonably can; and
  • delete your data when you delete it or close your account, as set out in our Privacy Policy.

6. AI reports are information, not advice

Reports, insights and forecasts are general information produced by software and AI from the data you provide. They are not financial, tax, accounting, investment or legal advice. Forecasts are estimates based on past patterns and can be wrong. Every number in a written report is checked against the figures we calculated from your data, but AI can still misread a situation or describe it imperfectly, and the results are only as good as the data you upload. You remain responsible for your business decisions; please check important ones with a qualified professional.

7. Credits, prices and payment

  • Credits: one report uses one credit. Uploading, mapping columns and exploring the dashboard are free. New accounts receive 2 free credits. If a report fails, its credit is refunded automatically.
  • Credits never expire while your account is open. Unused credits from a monthly plan carry over to the next month, and credits stay in your account if you cancel your plan.
  • Credit packs are once-off purchases. Monthly plans are charged to your card by PayFast each month until you cancel, and each payment adds that plan's credits.
  • Prices are shown on our website and on the Credits & billing page in South African rand. They are final prices; if we register for VAT, our prices will include it. We may change prices; for monthly plans we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
  • Payment is processed by PayFast, by card, Instant EFT and the other methods PayFast offers at checkout (monthly plans are card only). Your card details go to PayFast, never to us. Credits are added as soon as PayFast confirms the payment.
  • Cancelling a plan: cancel any time under Credits & billing. You won't be charged again; credits you already have stay in your account.

8. Cooling-off and refunds

  • Under section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002, you may cancel a purchase within 7 days of making it, without giving a reason. We'll refund the credits from that purchase that you haven't used, within 30 days, to the payment method you used.
  • Credits you've already used to generate reports can't be refunded, because that service was delivered at your request.
  • To cancel or ask for a refund, email us from your account's email address with the date and amount of the payment.
  • If you close your account, any unused credits end with it. If you bought credits in the 7 days before closing, ask us for the cooling-off refund first.
  • Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008, where it applies to you.

9. Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • upload data you're not entitled to use, or anything unlawful, defamatory or harmful;
  • try to access another business's data, test or bypass our security, or interfere with the service (including by overloading it or using automated tools to scrape it);
  • copy, resell, reverse-engineer or use RowCast to build a competing product; or
  • use RowCast in a way that breaks any law, including POPIA.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.

10. Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep RowCast available and secure, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. It may be briefly unavailable, for example during maintenance or security updates, which we schedule for quiet hours. We may improve, change or stop features. If we stop offering RowCast altogether, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice, time to download your data, and a refund of unused credits.

11. Liability

To the extent the law allows: (a) RowCast is provided "as is"; (b) we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, data or business opportunity, including losses arising from decisions you make based on reports, insights or forecasts; and (c) our total liability to you for all claims relating to RowCast is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim, or R1 000, whichever is greater. These limits don't apply to loss caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or to any liability that can't lawfully be limited.

You agree to compensate us for claims by third parties arising from data you uploaded without the right to do so, or from your breach of these terms.

12. Closing your account

You can close your account at any time under Account & security › Personal data. Your business data is deleted immediately, and removed from our encrypted backups within 14 days. If you have a monthly plan, we cancel it with PayFast first so you aren't charged again.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. For important changes we'll email you at least 14 days before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can close your account before then; if you keep using RowCast after that date, the new terms apply.

14. Complaints, disputes and law

  • If something goes wrong, please email us first. We'll try to resolve it within 20 business days.
  • If you're a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act, you may also approach the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud or the National Consumer Commission.
  • These terms are governed by the law of South Africa. You and we agree to the jurisdiction of the South African courts, including the Magistrates' Courts.

15. General

These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about RowCast. If any part is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we haven't given it up. We may send you notices by email to your account's address; you may send notices to us at the email or address in section 1.
